Biddle, James
(18 feb. 1783, Filadelfia, Pa., EE.UU.–1 oct. 1848, Filadelfia).

Oficial naval estadounidense. Ingresó a la marina en 1800. Durante la guerra anglo-estadounidense estuvo a bordo del USS Wasp cuando capturó el buque inglés Frolic, y estuvo al mando del USS Hornet en su victoria contra el Penguin. En 1817 fue enviado al río Columbia a reclamar el territorio de Oregón para EE.UU. En calidad de comodoro de los buques estadounidenses en Asia Oriental, negoció el primer tratado entre EE.UU. y China, que fue de carácter comercial.
